Project Description

Little Footprints, Big Steps was founded to aid in rescuing children from situations of abuse, slavery, homelessness or severe neglect in Haiti. They do this by reuniting families, supporting education and opportunities for self-sufficiency and dignity through their programs and services and collaborations.

In some cases, children, have been placed in Little Footprints, Big Steps care by Haitian authorities. They provide a family setting for these children, with security and 24-hour supervision. They also provide nutritionally dense meals daily and provide supplements and medicines if needed. In the Transitional Safehouse and through their Outreach program, children receive basic medical care and regular medical checkups. If a child has more serious medical conditions, they will arrange for these to be addressed and treated. Shelter, tutoring, life skills training, recreation, and therapeutic services are also provided to children in their Transitional Safehouse. Their goal is to help these children, not only physically, but also in developing psycho-social and coping skills that their traumatic pasts may have deprived them of. Although our Transitional Safehouse is in the city of Les Cayes, Little Footprints, Big Steps also support children and youth reunited with their families across the country through our Outreach and Sponsorship programs.

Through the support of us and other sponsors and donors, they can support more than 250 children for basic education. Youth are supported for vocational training. Families are supported for micro-business, livestock and agriculture opportunities. All leading toward a self-sufficient, dignified future. They follow-up regularly, weighing and measuring the children, reviewing report cards from schools, ensuring adequate shelter, food supplies and health care. They collaborate and partner with local authorities and government officials as well as other international development organizations. Let’s support them!
