Guidelines for Requesting a Rotary Grant
Rotary is an international service organization, approximately 1.2 million persons strong, whose main objective is service – in our communities, in our workplaces, and around the globe. Our mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
The Rotary Club of Bowmanville, chartered in 1924, has a long and proud history of support for children with special needs, youth and seniors, families facing unusual hardship, literacy and education, polio eradication, water and sanitation projects in under developed countries, and many other worthwhile causes. All monies raised through our fundraising events are returned to our local or global community through our charitable work. At least 80% of our funds are reinvested directly back into our local community.
The Rotary Club of Bowmanville’s charitable activities are broadly informed by Rotary’s six Areas of Focus which we strive to address both locally and internationally:
- peace and conflict prevention/resolution
- disease prevention and treatment
- water and sanitation
- maternal and child health
- basic education and literacy
- economic and community development
With some exceptions our granting region is the Municipality of Clarington. In addition, we will not provide unrestricted cash grants to any individual or organization.
Application Review Criteria
The Rotary Club of Bowmanville receives numerous requests for funding during the year and the requests always exceed the financial resources of the Club. Every request is reviewed on an individual basis and given full consideration based upon the Areas of Focus identified above and other criteria identified on the application form. Unfortunately, not all applications that fit the criteria can be guaranteed funding due to current funding priorities and available resources.
Applicants for a grant must complete the application form as fully as possible and submit it to Lynda Mayes, the Club Secretary, either as an email attachment ([email protected]) or via Canada Post to:
Secretary, Bowmanville Rotary Club
P.O. Box 217
Bowmanville ON L1C 3K9
Receipt of your submission will be acknowledged and it will be directed to the appropriate committee for review. Please note that grant requests can take 30 to 60 days to process depending upon the size and complexity of the request.
